yoast seo screenshotOne of the best SEO plugins for WordPress is Yoast SEO. This plugin allows you to create default meta descriptions and default title tags for your site that are clean and SEO friendly. However, previously updating each page was an cumbersome task forcing you to go page-by-page to make these changes. Thankfully, that’s a thing of the past now.

Yoast SEO recently updated to version 1.5.2.4 which includes a “Bulk Title Editor” section, a “Bulk Description Editor” section, and a few other small updates.

I know you can’t contain your excited, but before you run off to update your plugin remember to backup your site in case there are any problems. If you don’t know how to do that our service team can help.

Don’t see why this is a big deal? You try spending hours a day going page-by-page, updating, cleaning up title tags, etc.

    Allow me elaborate.

When you click into the “Bulk Title Editor” section it shows what the actual title of the page or post is, the URL/slug for the post and the existing Yoast SEO title for the page or post. Then, you have a new field that allows you to update this with a newer, cleaner, and SEO-friendly title tag.

I’ve shown only one row in the image below however, it shows about 10 per page making it very easy to edit one, or 10 at a time.

This couldn’t have come at a better time since Google recently updated the design of their search result pages. The change, while subtle, altered the character limits display to an average of only 58 characters. You can read more about this on the Moz blog here.

The “Bulk Description Editor” looks and functions the same way as the “Bulk Title Editor”.

Another feature included in this update was an addition to the “Social” section. Previously, when setting up Twitter Cards within the Yoast SEO plugin you were only able to include a “Summary”. Now, we have the option to choose between “Summary” and “Summary with Large Photo” (see photo below). This is great—why wouldn’t you want to include a large photo in a tweet to grab your audiences’ attention?

If you have a WordPress site and haven’t added the Yoast SEO plugin, I suggest giving it a try. Please share this post if you enjoyed it and leave a comment below if you have any questions!
